  • Lionbridge's Logoport™ Web-Based Translation Memory Technology Surpasses Performance and Scalability Milestones

Real-Time Language Management Technology Processes More Than 4,000 Projects in First Phase of Deployment; Supports 70 Lionbridge Clients and 4,800 Registered Users Worldwide in Under 10 Months

WALTHAM, Mass., January 23, 2006 — Lionbridge Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq: LIOX) a leading provider of globalization and offshoring services, today announced that Logoport, the Company's industry-leading, web- based language management technology, has managed more than 110 million words since its initial deployment in early 2005. Within one instance of code, the Logoport system currently supports more than 4,800 users worldwide, encompassing Lionbridge professionals, in-country translators and Lionbridge clients. Lionbridge is now using Logoport for more than 70 Lionbridge clients, supporting Lionbridge's hosted, on-demand, managed service model. The Company will continue its Logoport deployment, and sees the potential for more than doubling its usage during 2006.

The Logoport technology is offered as a free service to Lionbridge clients and translators, and is fully compatible with all industry-standard language tools. Engaged via a simple plug-in tool, Logoport's unique on-demand architecture enables the simultaneous use of multiple translation memories within each client and facilitates real-time collaboration among all project participants. With no globalization software to purchase, download, or maintain, newly translated content is immediately available to all translators via the web, improving turn-around time, consistency and quality. Logoport's advanced security features ensure confidentiality and protect each client's proprietary content while offering full back up and recovery with full scalability.

"Like other large, global industries such as travel and HR administration, the globalization industry is quickly moving to a hosted, web-based service model. Lionbridge is leading this evolution with the deployment of Logoport," said Dave Flanagan, CIO, Lionbridge. "As a hosted application, Logoport has complete scalability to handle large volumes of transactions in a secure environment. Its advanced real-time collaboration improves quality and drives new efficiencies for clients by aggregating disparate content throughout the client organization. The performance of Logoport in the past 10 months is nothing short of remarkable. We will continue to scale this successful deployment throughout 2006."

Acquired in early 2005, Logoport has expanded rapidly in response to demand from clients, freelance translators and internal employees alike, who welcome its intuitive interface, embedded glossaries, and instant message capabilities. The system's web-based architecture eliminates system latency and scalability issues as evidenced by the more than 14 million words produced without disruption in a recent month.

In the first half of 2006, Lionbridge intends to release a new and comprehensive linguistic management platform utilizing the Logoport suite of language asset tools, including customer-specific integration of machine translation.

"The response we've received from our clients, our worldwide community of translators and our internal program managers is overwhelmingly positive," said Rory Cowan, CEO, Lionbridge. "As the technology backbone of Lionbridge, Logoport is surpassing our expectations for quality, scalability and performance. We are in the early stages of yet another internet-driven industry transformation. As the world leader in global outsourcing, Lionbridge will continue to advance the industry with our web-based technology and offshore execution model."
